until the lights go out, until my legs give out, until the smoke clears out, and my high wears out
things i have learned from working 12 hour shifts at the hospital:
1. working 50% of your 24 hours in a day only leaves (after sleeping 8) 4 hours left, which is then taken up with driving back and forth (1 hour total), getting ready for work (1 hour), eating dinner (30 minutes), ... this then leaves only 1 and a half hours .... and let's face it, i sleep more than 8 hours!
2. it really sucks.
3. my feet are throbbing, burning, and i have blisters in various places i didn't know i could get a blister.
4. some patients really smell!
5. there is a such a thing as a fistula (a narrow passage or duct formed by disease or injury, as one leading from an abscess to a free surface, or from one cavity to another.) where stool can seep out through the vagina.
6. it's not a pretty sight.
7. i have seen more genitals (that i did not want to see) this year to last a lifetime.
8. i am very tired and probably the meanest wife ever right now.
9. i don't think i can do 3 days with school, which means i could cut down to two days, which increases my health insurance to 300 a month instead of 200 for tony and i. (the more you work, the more the hospital will pay for your health insurance)
10. girls are extremely gossipy even while running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
11. a lot of nurses have a god-complex and are really mean.
and probably a lot more ...

1. Wow. I am amazed that you can tolerate it. Brian's sister, Kim, was a nursing assistant for a long while. She found it quite taxing, too.
2. I'm thinking about starting a blog that won't be vague and emotional, like talking about gymnastics or being a writing grad student or something similarly nerdy in an attempt to get more "noticed" as a writer.
3. My summer class is done Sunday -- get ready for e-mailage!
4. I MISS YOU!
